Nov 4, 2021 | 4:05 PM

As 115 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Interior Thursday, the active case count increased for the third consecutive day, reaching 666.

The new cases were part of 596 recorded across the province, and B.C.’s active case count as of Thursday was 4,451.

The Ministry of Health says hospitalizations continue to trend upward, hitting 438 Thursday, with 130 of those patients in intensive care.

There were also eight new deaths recorded across the province, though none were in the Interior. A total of 2,200 British Columbians have now died as a result of the virus.

The province’s first dose vaccination rate hit 90.1 per cent on Thursday, and 85.6 per cent of British Columbians age 12 and over have received both jabs.

The Ministry of Health also noted that of the new COVID-19 cases over the past week, 59.3 per cent were people who had not received a COVID-19 vaccine, while 35.5 per cent of cases were fully vaccinated individuals. Over the course of the past two weeks, 65.5 per cent of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were unvaccinated, while 28.2 per cent of patients had received both doses.

The province also noted that two new health-care facility outbreaks were identified Thursday, one in the Fraser Health and one in the Northern Health jurisdiction, though they were offset by four Fraser Health area outbreaks and one in the North being declared over.
