Vernon and Coldstream’s second dose COVID-19 vaccination rate reaches 80 per cent
While the first dose COVID-19 vaccination rate for Vernon/Coldstream remained flat at 85 per cent, the second dose rate saw a one per cent increase over the past week, climbing to 80 per cent by Monday (Nov. 1).
The increase comes from data through the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, which also breaks down the vaccination rates for the health region based on age groups.
It’s noted that 79 per cent of Vernon/Coldstream residents age 12 to 17 have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 71 per cent have gotten both jabs. The first dose rates are the same for those age 18 to 49 at 79 per cent, but the second dose rates for that age group is 72 per cent. Meanwhile, 90 per cent of area residents age 50 plus have received their first dose, while 88 per cent are double dosed.
The vaccination rates for Vernon/Coldstream remained middle of the board compared to other Okanagan regions, with Kamloops Centre South recording the highest vaccination rates, and Enderby and Kettle Valley sharing last place in first dose rates as of Nov. 1.
