Province reports 2,239 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., 525 in Interior

There are 6,098 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 303 people in hospital and 141 in intensive care.

Since Friday, 18 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,940.

The new deaths include:

* Fraser Health: three

* Interior Health: five

* Island Health: three

* Vancouver Coastal Health: six

* Northern Health: one

There have been five new health-care facility outbreaks at The Residence in Mission, Hallmark on the Lake, Maple Ridge Christian School, Magnolia Gardens (Fraser Health) and Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health).

Five outbreaks have been declared over at Chilliwack General Hospital, Northcrest Care Centre (Fraser Health), Spring Valley Care Centre, David Lloyd Jones Home and Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health).

The following are updates on the outbreaks in Interior Health:

• Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 41 cases: 30 residents and 11 staff, with six deaths connected to the outbreak.
• Village at Mill Creek assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has 13 cases: eight residents and five staff with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
• Hardy View Lodge long-term care in Grand Forks has six cases: one resident and five staff.
• Kamloops Seniors Village long-term care has 19 cases: 10 residents and nine staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
• Hillside Village long-term care in Salmon Arm has nine cases: three resident and six staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
• The Hamlets at Westsyde long-term care in Kamloops has six cases: three residents and three staff.
• Joseph Creek Village long-term care in Cranbrook has 14 cases: nine residents and five staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
• Overlander Long-Term Care in Kamloops has 14 cases: nine residents and five staff.
• Village by the Station long-term care in Penticton has eight cases: six residents and two staff.

As of today, 87.7 per cent of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 80.5 per cent have had two doses.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 7,802,535 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

Breakthrough case analysis is not available today, but it is expected to be included in tomorrow’s information bulletin.
