THORPE, Wadena "Deana" Maxine

June 27, 1938 – August 17, 2021

Deana passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in Vernon BC at the age of 83 with the love of her family surrounding her.

She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all her children James, Barb (Kelly), Patti (Paul) and Lesli (Mark); her grandchildren Bobbie, Scott, Mitchell, Greg, Amanda, Tyler, Luke, Spencer, Carson and Emily; her great granddaughter Holly; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Deana was predeceased by her husband Archie of 63 years and her parents Maxine (Joc) Morrice and Thomas (Verna) Colvin.

During her lifetime Deana sat on many social committees. She was involved with Vernon Minor Hockey Ladies Auxiliary, Pee Wee Minor Hockey Tournaments, Kamloops Figure Skating Club, Taught Sunday School for the United Church, Daughter’s of the Nile, Statistician for Major Woman’s Fast Pitch, and organizing fun social activities for her Union.

In her retirement she enjoyed taking part in community teas and socials. She loved going over recipes and baking, planning events that brought family and friends together. Deana really enjoyed traveling and family vacations. She loved being with her family, playing cards and laughing. She proudly knitted toques for the homeless. Deana was wonderfully creative, giving and had a way of making everyone feel special and loved.

Celebration of Life will take place at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon on Friday August 27 at 11:00 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in person attendance is by invitation only, however everyone is welcome to join us through livestream at pleasantvalleyfh.com.
