Unemployment figures for economic region that includes Vernon fell in July
New figures from Statistics Canada shows that in July 2021, the unemployment rate for the economic region that includes Vernon fell, while the employment rate rose.
The figures, which are unadjusted for seasonality, shows unemployment for the Thompson-Okanagan region was 5.1 per cent, down from 6.5 per cent in June.
The employment rate, meanwhile, was recorded at 58 per cent in July, up from 55.6 per cent the month before.
On a year over year basis, both rates saw improvements. The unemployment rate was recorded at 10.2 per cent in July of 2020, while the employment rate was recorded at 57.2 per cent.
