Report of man with weapon in Kelowna proved to be misidentification

A man who was misidentified as carrying a weapon in Kelowna has been released.

Just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a man believed to be carrying a firearm in the woods near the 2500-block of Enterprise Way.

Numerous officers responded to the scene where they quickly, and without incident, detained the man.

The officers then determined that the item the man was seen carrying was not a weapon, and he was released immediately.
