Deceased body found in downtown Nanaimo believed to be missing woman

NANAIMO — Police believe a woman missing for the last few days was discovered deceased in downtown Nanaimo.

Cst. Gary O’Brien said investigators believe the body found on Thursday, June 3 in the vicinity of Albert St. and Victoria Cres. is 27-year-old Amy Watts.

She was reported missing by her family on May 27.

Her family has since been notified of the loss.

A forensic autopsy will be scheduled for the near future as the investigation continues.
