Enderby Close to New Budget

Enderby’s proposed city budget is through it’s first three readings.

Mayor Greg McCune says it means a 2 per cent increase for taxpayers.

” It works out to thirty-eight dollars and 43 cents per hundred thousand based off an assessed average home of I think 237 thousand in our community.”

McCune says some of that goes to infrastructure.

” Inside of that we have a certain amount that goes automatically to infrastructure improvements and then there’s a breakout for operating and that type of thing.”

No one turned out for the public portion of the budget presentation at Enderby City hall this week, but Mayor McCune says that’s not unusual.

He says people tend to stop him and other council members on the street and ask questions.

” Actually I think we have more people looking at it. They just don’t come to that one hour session where they can ask questions, because they’ve already asked their questions.”

And he says they are generally satisfied.

Council is expected to give final reading at its next meeting May 1st
