Police watching for speeders in school zones
Expect to see police vehicles patrolling around local schools for the next few weeks.
“With school resuming this week, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP would like to remind motorists that school zones remain in effect until summer holidays,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer. “For the next month, frontline officers will be out patrolling in and around the elementary and secondary schools in our area in order to enforce the 30 km/hr speed limit.”
The reduced limits are in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days until the end of June.
Offenders face fines ranging from $196 to $253 plus three points.
