Distillers switch to making hand sanitizer including Vernon shop
Distillers in British Columbia are temporarily authorized to make alcohol-based hand sanitizer to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic, through an updated policy directive from the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
One of the companies that is involved is Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillers (OSCD) in Vernon, with what it calls Flatten the Curve Hand/Surface Sanitizer.
“Yes we definitely are in full swing with the sanitizer,” said Tyler Dyck of OSCD to Vernon Matters Friday.
The company is planning to provide 500 ml bottles of hand and surface sanitizers free of change to institutions and organizations that are taking care of those that are most at risk in our local community: care homes, old age facilities, police, ambulance and fire stations/halls and homeless shelters.
