Vernon woman believes she has coronavirus

A Vernon woman has gone public with her belief that she has the coronavirus.

Fiona Forshaw posted on Facebook she called her doctor who told her she likely has the virus and is in full quarantine at her home.

Forshaw, who is a photographer who runs Image Studios in Vernon, is also advising anyone who had contact with her over the last two weeks to self isolate.

“It started with a terrible headache four days ago and then two days ago a sore throat, feeling of my lungs being irritated and getting out of breath easily. I’m tired and falling asleep a lot. My body is so sore. I thought I had strep,” Forshaw said.

Forshaw added doctors won’t provide her with a test unless her symptoms get worse, which she said calls into question the actual case numbers for B.C.

“We will not be leaving our house even for walks. If you have seen me at all in the last two weeks I suggest you self isolate also. My doctor said full quarantine,” she said.

Forshaw told Vernon Matters her symptoms are mild and she has been told to stay home.

“I have not been tested so it’s only presumed based on my explanation of how I feel. I just thought better to [be] safe and share my experience than keep it to myself. Lots of people are telling me they [are] experiencing similar symptoms and are opting to stay home. I’ve had many people reach out to thank me for sharing and many are health care professionals. Everyone needs to take this seriously and hopefully it will pass,” said Forshaw.

Forshaw has received positive support on social media.

“I hope you are OK! Thanks for the post and I shared it for other friends and family in Vernon. Hope you have fast recovery!” one person wrote.

“Lots of love and prayers coming your way. You are brave and strong,” another said.

“I am very confused by your doctor’s view on this,” commented another person. “The two main symptoms of Covid are a fever and coughing. There is another virus going around with similar symptoms. How can your doctor be sure of this?”
