UPDATE: Stolen vehicle suspect flees scene of crash

Police said a stolen vehicle was involved in a hit and run crash near Butcher Boys in Vernon Wednesday morning.

A KIA car travelling northbound at a high rate of speed hit an oncoming pickup truck, and then hit a pole in the 4800 block of Pleasant Valley Road around 10:15 a.m.

“The driver of the Kia exited the vehicle and fled from the scene on foot,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer. “Witnesses describe the suspect as a tall man with a slender build and faded haircut wearing a grey hoodie and black ball cap.”

Police and a dog service team could not locate the driver.

“The driver of the truck was not injured,” said Finn. “As a result of the incident, both vehicle required to be towed from the scene. The registered owner of the KIA reported to police the vehicle had been stolen and the police continue to investigate.”

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash near Butcher Boys in Vernon Wednesday morning.

A red car and a red Ford pickup truck were involved in a collision just before 11 a.m. on Pleasant Valley Road.

A witness to the crash told Vernon Matters the red car crossed the centre line and hit the truck and hit a pole in the parking lot.

The driver of the car reportedly was bleeding and fled the scene on foot.

The witness said police were at the scene with the Police Dog Services unit to try and locate the man who fled.
