Site to be annexed

Mayor expects BX School will get city sewer connection

A deal is expected to go ahead to allow BX Elementary School to hook-up to Vernon’s sewer service, and eventually be annexed into the city.

School District 22 had requested the service as part of a provincially-funded expansion to the school which is currently in Electoral Area C of the Regional District of North Okanagan.

Mayor Victor Cumming says the deal with RDNO would allow the city to provide the service immediately, and the site would be annexed into Vernon in a provincial process that will take two to three years.

“We’ve got a public meeting (on March 23) that will take place, and if the support is there to change the official community plan, council will get one more shot at this in probably two weeks. And from that, we will then provide sewer to the BX site immediately, so they can get underway with construction,” Cumming told Vernon Matters.
