Garbage collection delayed for some customers

Some Vernon residents did not have their garbage collected on their regular day Thursday, but the city says it will still be picked up.
Waste Connections Canada, the collections company, told the city the lack of pickup was due to an unexpected issue but crews will return to the affected areas Saturday, when customers should put their garbage out again.
“It came to our attention that some residences were missed during collection on Thursday, February 20,” Chris Ovens, the manager of Roads, Drainage and Airport, said. “Waste Connections Canada has identified the issue and has assured us they will be returning to the affected areas on Saturday morning, Feb. 22.”
The city apologizes for any inconvenience the delay may have caused.
