Road closures coming for Vernon Winter Carnival parade

With the Vernon Winter Carnival fast approaching, the City of Vernon is reminding residents about upcoming road closures for the Vernon Winter Carnival Parade.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, 27th Street between 39th Avenue and 43rd Avenue and surrounding side streets will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The parade route, which starts at 43rd Avenue travels south on 27th Street, then west on 30th Avenue and then north on 31st Street will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The start-time for the parade is at noon.

The city is advising motorists to use Highway 97 for north-south travel or find alternative routes for downtown.

City staff will be situated along the intersection of 35th Avenue and 31st Street to allow emergency vehicles through.
