Feb 3, 2020 | 1:36 AM

Vernon’s Community Safety Office is looking for volunteers.

CSO volunteers provide the public with community safety information, information on crime prevention programs, drug awareness, bullying, and community, personal and internet safety.

“The Vernon CSO is the flagship operation of the Protective Services Community Safety Unit. Staffed by RCMP CSO volunteers, the storefront has expanded beyond traditional Community Policing functions and now provides overall Community Safety initiatives,” said a city news release.

CSO volunteers include retirees who want to stay connected to their community, or individuals who are looking to pursue a career in policing, administration or human services.

You must be at least 19 years of age and able to commit to a minimum of four hours per week for at least one year, and must attend required training sessions and meetings.

You can learn more about the position and qualification requirements by visiting the city’s website, or by visiting the Community Safety Office at 3010 31st Avenue. Volunteer applications are also available online or at the office.
