Family thankful for community’s help after missing man found safe

The family of a Vernon man who went missing for several days has provided an update on where the search came to an end, and what happens next.

Jay Rosenberger, 38, was found on Vancouver Island Wednesday after he and his car went missing Friday.

His sister, Holly Frances, wrote a social media post thanking everyone for the “hard work” put in to find Jay. She said he is now safe and family members are asking for privacy as they focus on rebuilding after the stressful search.

“It’s hard enough going through a difficult time in life, let alone going through it with a whole bunch of people watching, wondering what we are doing,” Frances wrote. “We are all extremely exhausted, in a place we don’t know. What we need from everyone right now is compassion; please leave your judgments and rude comments aside.”

Frances, a resident of Edmonton, says they want to thank the community that banded together “during this horrific time.”

“The incredible kindness we received from everyone gave us so much strength and I am blown away by the generosity of others to help find him,” she wrote.

A GoFundMe page to help the family with search costs raised over $5,200.

Frances said family members will work with the organizer of the account to disperse the funds to cover the expenses associated with finding Jay, and any money left over will be donated to charity.
