UPDATE: Traffic moving again on Highway 6 in Coldstream

Jan 27, 2020 | 10:45 AM

UPDATE 10:38 a.m.

Highway 6 in Coldstream has reopened after a crash this morning that appears to be a result of slick conditions.

A semi hit a power pole east of Ricardo Road, causing the power pole to come down.

The highway was closed and BC Hydro was called in to make repairs.

RCMP say the crash caused no injuries and minor damage.

“[There is] no official cause of collision at this time, but roads were extremely icy in the area,” said RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

BC Hydro says 174 customers are without power due to the incident with an estimated repair time of 1:30 p.m.

7:30 a.m.

Part of Highway 6 is closed this morning between Coldstream Ranch and Lavington after a semi hit a telephone pole at 7:10 am.

The pole is dangling across the highway and crews expect clean up to take most of the morning. A detour is available at Buchanan Road and motorists are asked to drive safely as conditions are icy.

RCMP say the driver of the semi has been transported to hospital with minor injuries.
