National event gets support from outlying city

Armstrong council is showing its support for a national sporting event coming to the North Okanagan.

The city’s council has committed $1,300 for the 2020 Ski Nationals at the Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre from March 25 to April 2.

Mayor Chris Pieper says events of this level benefit the entire area.

“It’s a regional event. These national events, we believe, help our community as well as every community in the North Okanagan. We approved that [funding] to go forward in our budget,” Pieper told Vernon Matters.
