Special spirit proceeds provide meals for Mission

Jan 10, 2020 | 3:56 PM

A Vernon business is providing a boost to one of the city’s busiest non-profit agencies.

Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery presented a cheque to the Upper Room Mission to provide an estimated 981 meals to Mission guests.

Mission general manager Naomi Rouck said the support is greatly appreciated.

“An organization like the Upper Room Mission relies on the support from community partners such as Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery. Their donation will not only help feed those who are hungry, but provide dignity to people in our community,” Rouck said.

Tyler Dyck, CEO of Okanagan Spirits, presented the cheque to Rouck.

The funds, raised through a special charity release of the award-winning Laird of Fintry single malt whisky over Christmas, were split evenly between Vernon’s Upper Room Mission and the Kelowna Gospel Mission.

Each bottle sold through the special release campaign provided three meals.
