Backpack campaign deadline extended

The deadline for the Upper Room Mission’s Blessings in a Backpack campaign has been extended.

The campaign now runs until Dec. 20 to allow for more donations to help the less fortunate.

“This campaign is incredibly important. For some people, these backpacks will be the only gifts they receive this Christmas,” Naomi Rouck, general manager of the Upper Room Mission, said. “Even a small blessing can have a lasting impact.”

People are asked to fill backpacks with useful items such as warm gloves, scarves, toques, heavy sweatshirts or warm jackets, new socks and underwear, travel-sized toiletry items, and a small flashlight.
