Dec 16, 2019 | 2:27 PM

The City of Vernon and its unionized workforce have ratified a new five-year collective agreement.

The deal with CUPE Local 626 runs from January 2019 to Dec. 31, 2023, and includes incremental wage hikes of two per cent a year over the term.

The deal, which covers 306 city employees, also contains small adjustments and several housekeeping changes.

“Council would like to express appreciation for the hard work of both negotiating teams in concluding bargaining and in reaching this reasoned five year collective agreement,” Mayor Victor Cumming said. “Council values the outstanding work that our employees contribute to the success of our community and look forward to continued positive working relationships.”
