Food Drive brings in 30,000 pounds

Dec 5, 2019 | 10:33 AM

The 42nd Annual Realtor’s Food Drive has once again stocked the shelves of the Vernon Salvation Army Food Bank.

Wednesday night’s collection in Vernon and Coldstream brought in over 30,000 pounds of food items.

“Realtors from all the different brokerages throughout the Vernon area descended en masse on the streets of the city,” event spokesperson and Realtor Robin Baycroft said.

Dean Sauve from the Salvation Army Food Bank was grateful for all the volunteers and the generosity of the people of Vernon and Coldstream.

“This goes a long way to help families in need and will stock our shelves into the spring.”

Sauve said more than 1,100 people are helped through the Food Bank’s programs each month, with about 32 per cent of those being youth and children under the age of 18.

If your neighbourhood was missed and you have food to donate, you can call any realtor or real estate brokerage in Vernon and someone will come and pick up your donation.
