Maestro Fresh-Wes to make Vernon stop

One of Canada’s best known rappers will be performing at a Vernon nightclub this month.

Wesley Williams, who is better known as Maestro Fresh-Wes, has been called the “Godfather of Canadian Hip Hop” because he was one of the earliest Canadian rappers to achieve mainstream success.

The 51-year-old Toronto native is also an actor, author and record producer.

He was the first Canadian rapper to have a Billboard Top 40 hit with Let Your Backbone Slide in 1989. His 2017 album, Coach Fresh, was nominated for a Juno.
