Update Nov. 20

City of Vernon crews wrapped up repairs on a water main on Okanagan Avenue Tuesday night, restoring water service to the area.

The city says repairs on the asphalt are expected to begin today, which will take until the end of the week, and traffic detours will be in place.

Original story

Due to a water main break in the 4100 block of Okanagan Avenue, there is a temporary water outage for homes in the immediate area.

“Crews are currently on site making repairs. Every effort is being made to have water available as soon as possible,” said a City of Vernon news release.

Repairs to the asphalt in the same block will be required, which will begin Wednesday (November 20) and are expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Traffic detours will be in place and the city asks motorists to please follow all signage and plan for possible travel delays in the Okanagan Avenue area.

“The city apologizes for any inconvenience this disruption may cause and appreciates your cooperation to ensure the timely completion of this project,” said the release.
