Fire damages home in Landing

Vernon Fire Rescue was called to a home in Okanagan Landing Saturday afternoon after reports of black smoke coming from the basement of a home in the 7500 block of Brooks Lane.

“Four Fire Rescue Service apparatus responded to the incident and firefighters were able to suppress the fire quickly. The fire was contained to the storage room where it started,” Christy Poirier, the city’s communications manager said.

No one was injured.

Fire Chief David Lind says it appears to have started from an extension cord or similar device.
