Community asked to support parking lot food drive

Nov 15, 2019 | 11:08 AM

A parking lot food drive is taking place in Armstrong Saturday (Nov. 16) to help fill the shelves at the Armstrong food bank.

People are asked to drop off non-perishable food items at the Askew’s parking lot at 3305 Smith Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“In the past, we’ve done realtors food drives for the food bank, but this year we’re going to try a parking lot food drive,” food bank manager Jennifer Ciccone said.

Ciccone said this is one of their big drives of the year, and the donations will keep their shelves stocked for several months.

“This will sustain us going into January, February and March, going into the spring,” she told Vernon Matters.

Ciccone said items like shampoo, treats, cookies, peanut butter, canned meat and canned fruit are most needed.

The Armstrong food bank is located beside the post office on Pleasant Valley Road.
