Police have released surveillance images of a person-of interest and a truck spotted in multiple crimes this week from Armstrong to Kamloops, to West Kelowna.

The person is a caucasian male in his 20’s or 30’s who is believed to be driving a Dodge Ram D-150 pickup truck which eluded police and a spike belt on the Bennett Bridge in Kelowna Wednesday.

Anyone spotting the truck or the person of interest is asked to call police or 9-1-1.

The suspect was seen wearing jeans, a two-tone grey and black jacket, a black baseball cap with a white diamond shaped logo and a sticker still attached to the outer brim,” says RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“The BC RCMP wish to thank the public for their tips, as possible sightings have been reported to police and are being followed up on by the police of jurisdiction,” stated O’Donaghey.

Police are looking for a suspect, or suspects, in a burgundy Dodge Ram D-150 pickup truck who they say are responsible for several crimes around the Southern Interior the last few days.

The licence plate on the truck is believed to be stolen out of Armstrong. Police said witnesses saw the vehicle at gas stations in Merritt and Kamloops where the driver attempted to pass counterfeit currency.

“On November 6, shortly after 8 p.m., Merritt RCMP responded to a fraud in progress at a gas station located on Airport Road in the city. Police were told that an unknown male suspect was allegedly inside the store attempting to pass counterfeit U.S. and Canadian currency,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

Police say the suspect vehicle contained multiple occupants as it fled from the business.

“The suspect allegedly accelerated towards the responding officer, and sideswiped his fully marked police vehicle before fleeing the area eastbound, not pursued by police,” O’Donaghey said.

On November 4, the same suspect vehicle was reportedly used by a driver who used counterfeit currency at a gas station located along the Trans-Canada Highway in Kamloops.

“Investigative efforts have determined that the licence plate displayed on the burgundy Dodge Ram pickup truck had been stolen from a vehicle out of the Armstrong area. The stolen B.C. licence plate KK2078 remains outstanding at this time,” O’Donaghey added.

The truck was also involved in a hit and run in the parking lot of West Kelowna business on Boucherie Road Wednesday night.

“Kelowna RCMP deployed a spike belt on the east end of the William R. Bennett Bridge in an effort to disable the suspect vehicle,” O’Donaghey said. “The driver performed an evasive manoeuver, managed to avoid the tire deflation device and drove over the concrete meridian of the highway. A second motorist’s vehicle was struck, as the suspect pulled a U-turn and proceeded back across the bridge span towards West Kelowna.”

The drivers involved in each collision were reportedly not injured, and police did not pursue the suspect vehicle.

The corporal’s advice is, if you should spot the pickup truck, do not approach it or any of its occupants, but immediately call police or 911.
