Police have still not issued any information two days after a suspected drive-by shooting in a Vernon neighborhood.

Vernon Matters first reported the incident Friday afternoon in the 4100 block of 24th Avenue with one resident saying she heard up to seven loud bangs.

Resident Brad Albrecht told Global News a bullet hit his truck, with the round going through one side of the box and into the other side.

Albrecht said he was raking his front lawn around 4:30 p.m. when he heard a “pop-pop-pop” sound, which he thought was fireworks, and then he saw a car speeding away.

Albrecht said he didn’t realize what had happened until his neighbor came over and said it was gunshots.

Albrecht says it’s fortunate he was on his front lawn and not where his truck was parked.

Police have been on the scene of a reported drive-by shooting in a Vernon neighborhood.

An area near the 4100 block of 24th Avenue, across from the Maple Ridge Apartments, has been sealed off.

In a story first reported by Vernon Matters, witnesses say they heard up to seven gun shots directed at a house in that area at around 4:30 Friday Nov. 1.

“A person was here loading my car to transport it, and as we were loading my car, we heard about 6 to 7 very, very loud bangs, like gun shots,” said nearby resident Janet.

“I looked around, half expecting to see someone come around the corner with a gun or something. They were that loud. They were bang, bang, bang. It was about seven in a row, just like that,” she said.

Police were spotted walking in and out of a yard located at 4105 24 Ave.

It’s not official, but reportedly no one was hurt.
