Oct 24, 2019 | 11:48 AM

A special weather statement has been issued for the Okanagan, Shuswap, South Thompson and Nicola regions.

Environment Canada says a developing pacific low pressure system, and associated cold front, is forecast to sweep across the southern interior on Friday.

“Strong southerly winds will develop ahead of the low tonight and then shift to west or northwest on Friday. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h are expected. Gusts to 80 km/h or more are possible for Chilcotin, Cariboo – south including Williams Lake, 100 Mile and Fraser Canyon,” said the statement from Environment Canada.

The weather agency advises residents to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
