‘All of a sudden it was bang’: Crash slows highway traffic

An attempt to change lanes ended in a two vehicle collision north of Vernon along Hwy. 97 near Swan Lake Nurseryland just before noon Friday.

A witness to the crash told Vernon Matters that a grey chevy sedan attempted to change lanes from the right to the left lane when a dark blue Nissan car sped forward hitting the other vehicle.

“I could see in the rear view mirror she was looking down and looking up and looking down and then all of a sudden, it was bang! The silver car spun around,” witness Adam Schultze said.

In a news release, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP confirm no injuries occurred in the crash but say both drivers received tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act: one for an unsafe lane change and the other for speeding.
