Police vehicle hit

Driver alleged to be three times over legal limit

A 34-year-old Vernon woman is facing charges after allegedly driving impaired and trying to flee from police.

A car was pulled over in the 2300 block of 30th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

“While the officer was roadside with the vehicle, the suspect driver fled from police. Minutes later, the vehicle and driver were located a short distance away by another responding officer and taken into custody,” Const. Kelly Brett said.

The driver allegedly collided with a police vehicle before stopping.

“The responding officers are fortunate they were not injured during this incident. Operating a vehicle while impaired is a dangerous practice which compromises the safety of the community,” Brett added.

Police say the woman provided breath samples three times over the legal limit, and is facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
