Oct 3, 2019 | 10:20 AM

It was a record response for the 18th annual North Okanagan United Way Drive Thru Breakfast at the Vernon Lodge Thursday morning.

Marianne Dahl, Marketing and Events Manager with the United Way, says $16,134 was raised, the highest ever for the event.

“Incredible!! Highest ever…thanks again,” said Dahl in an email to Vernon Matters.

People made donations to get breakfast bags full of donated food, coupons and other items with the proceeds supporting 20 charities and programs under the United Way umbrella that help vulnerable children, youth, families and seniors in the community.

Original story

It’s a chance to get breakfast and support a great cause at the same time.

The 18th annual North Okanagan United Way Drive-Thru Breakfast will be at the Prestige Vernon Lodge from 6 to 9 a.m. Thursday.

Local dignitaries and VIP’s, along with Brian and Rebecca from the Beach Morning Show, will be on hand.

For a donation, people get breakfast bags with donated food, coupons, and grand prizes with a goal to meet or beat last year’s fundraising total of over $12,000.

“All donations stay local and support close to 20 local charities and other local initiatives that serve the needs of vulnerable children, youth, families, and seniors in our community,” Tracy Williamson, Community Engagement Manager for United Way–North Okanagan region said.

New for 2019 is $20 pre-orders and additional donations which will be gratefully accepted at: www.NorthOkDriveThru.com.
