Police seek owners of stolen items

RCMP have seized what they believe is stolen property in Vernon and now officers are trying to find the rightful owner or owners.

Acting on a tip, police arrested a man Thursday morning in the 5200 block of 25th Avenue after he was found with two high end bikes and two pellet rifles.

The items included a black and green ‘GIANT’ mountain bike, a brown and white ‘TREK’ mountain bike, which are locked together, and two pellet rifles with camouflage stocks.

“It was the keen eye of the witness that followed their gut instinct and believed the property may have been stolen, thus contacting the police so our officers could attend to investigate,” RCMP Const. Kelly Brett said. “Through investigation, officers located other alleged stolen property on the suspect that was previously reported to police, thus leading officers to believe the two bikes and two airsoft rifles are possible stolen property that has not yet been reported to police.”
