Come celebrate Hurlburt Park

The City of Vernon is inviting everyone to come celebrate the grand opening of Hurlburt park on Friday.

The celebrations start at 10:15 a.m. and will kick off with a ribbon cutting, speeches, and of course some cake.

The park was previously known as Camp Hurlburt and was a summertime favourite for kids for 80 years.

“I am thrilled that this site, that has been a big part of so many residents’ childhood memories, is now open for the whole community to enjoy,” Vernon’s Acting Mayor Akbal Mund said.

“The park is a beautiful spot to enjoy the lake,” he added.

The city has arranged a shuttle for people to catch a ride because there are limited parking spots. The shuttle leaves Marshall Fields Soccer Parking Lot at 9 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. It will leave Hurlburt Park at 10:50 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.
