Man in hospital

Car goes airborne in afternoon crash

Jul 25, 2019 | 4:11 PM

A man was transported to hospital following a bizarre crash Thursday afternoon.

Shawn Hannigan witnessed the crash just before 3 p.m. and told Vernon Matters the man was travelling along Okanagan Landing Road, when things suddenly took a turn.

“For some reason he came off the bank and he was airborne and the truck hit Brooks Lane which is, I don’t know, about 30-feet below and he hit a tree,” said Hannigan who helped the man until the ambulance arrived.

“He’s cut pretty bad; his head went through the windshield,” he said.

Hannigan believes the man may have suffered some sort of medical seizure because he did not smell any liquor on the crash victim.

Police, fire, and ambulance arrived on scene.

VernonMatters has reached out to emergency officials for more details.
