Jul 22, 2019 | 4:41 PM

Staff at Vernon Volkswagen are asking the public to keep their eyes peeled after bikes were stolen from their property on Highway 97 north of the city last Wednesday morning at around 4:30 a.m.

“A guy just forced entry and came in,” Vernon Volkswagen General Manager Thomas Brandle said.

A total of three bikes were stolen, but one was recovered thanks to an employee’s watchful eye.

“One of my salespeople had identified an individual on one of our bikes over the weekend, called the RCMP kept the person in sight and had an arrest made,” Brandle said.

The theft of the three bikes were caught on surveillance video.

Brandle estimates that each bike is valued around $600 to $700.

The bikes are used as loaner bikes for customers in the service department.

They are described as silver in color and carry the brand name Giant.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCMP.
