Lots of new fun planned for IPE

Cue the adorable animals, the rides and the aroma of cotton candy.

The 120^th IPE is happening in Armstrong in over a month, and planning is well underway to bring fun for the whole family.

IPE General Manager Yvonne Paulson said there will be several new activities on display for people to enjoy.

“We have Acrobark, that’s acrobatics and SuperDogs. So it is going to be a family fun event for people to come and watch, and they are going to be on three or four times a day,” she said.

To event honour the Light Horse Division, The IPE Cowboy challenge will also take place on Saturday at 10:30.

“It’s a timed event, where the competitors are on horseback and you are going over different obstacles like you would at a farm or a ranch.”

For the kids, or kids at heart, the North Okanagan Model Railroad will have demonstrations at the Norval arena.

Kids can also look forward to a reptile show at Kids World.

For the foodies out there, new food vendors are on the way to make their mark at the event.

More information will be available soon, but Paulson hinted that some of the new food vendors will be a little different than traditional fair cuisine, which will also be available at the IPE.

“We’ve got some pretty fancy food coming that are going to be exciting for everyone to take in and enjoy” said Paulson.

Another event for the foodie is the wildly popular IPE Top Chef competition which will be making a return to the IPE after a successful run last year.

“We are looking for competitors right now, currently to come in and compete. You can come and compete as a youth, as an adult or as a family, it’s a great time to come and cook. It was so popular last year,” she said.

Ticket sales for the upcoming 120th annual IPE have been going strong.

Paulson said that they have sold more rodeo tickets at this time of year compared to last year.

“It’s still very popular and still a very exciting event for people to come to.”

The 120^th IPE takes place August 28- September 1, 2019.
