Police target ‘problem premise’

Jul 10, 2019 | 3:46 PM

RCMP say their resources were taxed as they moved to shut down a drug house deemed a problem premise in Vernon.

Twenty people were found at the residence in the 2800 block of 35th Street during the execution of a search warrant Tuesday evening, and each one had to be identified and processed.

Cpl. Dan Pollock said the house generated numerous calls to police over a short period of time.

“While it is not unusual to locate numerous people at a residence, to find 20 people was taxing on police resources to identify and process each individual. The investigation and execution of this searchwarrant is a great example of team work by all of our frontline members and plain clothes units,” Pollock said.

Officers seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

“As well, police located and seized drug paraphernalia which included scales and packaging, and an undisclosed amount Canadian currency,” Pollock added.

Police continue to investigate possible charges, and are collecting more evidence.

“A 30-year-old North Okanagan woman was arrested and released from police custody on a future court date for charges relating to drug trafficking,” an RCMP release stated.
