Vernon fire crews douse car fire

Vernon fire crews worked to put out a car fire early this afternoon, after an older beige Ford sedan went up in smoke.

The fire occurred across the street from Vernon Optometry on 39 Ave. and 28 St.

A woman was inside the vehicle, but was not hurt.

Police and city bylaw were on scene directing traffic, while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown.
