Vandalism delays pool opening

Vandalism has pushed back the opening of a popular recreation facility in Vernon.

The Lakeview Wading Pool was scheduled to open Friday, but the city said that’s been delayed to next Wednesday, July 3, to allow a broken pool grate to be replaced.

“One of the main drain grates was damaged while the pool was not in operation. The damage was minimal but in order to ensure the safety of the pool users, the grate will have to be replaced prior to opening,” according to a city news release.

The facility, which is also known as the ‘Peanut Pool’ due to its shape, is located in Lakeview Park on 18th Street in East Hill.
