Jun 12, 2019 | 9:36 AM

A total of 111 people strapped on their running shoes at Polson Park for the ninth annual Vernon Walk to End ALS.

A grand total of $23,473.85 was raised on Saturday, according to the ALS society of B.C.

The event featured a barbecue, cake walk, 50/50 draw, and a silent auction.

The Walk to End ALS is the largest volunteer-led fundraiser for the ALS Societies of Canada.

The organization estimates roughly 3,000 Canadians are diagnosed with the disease.

About 400 of those people live in British Columbia.
