Driver shaken up

Car rolls into house

Jun 5, 2019 | 1:26 PM

A car ended up in a precarious position in Vernon this morning.

First responders were called to a home on Mt. Grady Place in the Middleton area around 11:20 a.m. to a report of a vehicle hitting a house.

Neighbor Allan Anders told Vernon Matters, the female driver was checking her signal lights when the car started to roll.

“She tried to grab a hold of it and the car’s momentum knocked her down, and the car just carried on its own until it came to rest there,” he said.

Anders said his neighbor, the driver, who he believes to be in her eighties, was shaken up.

“The ambulance checked her out, and she has a skinned knee and a bump on her head, but she’s fine. Shook-up, but fine,” Anders said.

Vernon Matters has requested details on the incident from RCMP.

Later in the day, a vehicle also hit the Shoppers Drug Mart on 27th Street with one person treated at the scene by paramedics.
