Spike Belt Stops Stolen Truck
Police in Vernon used a spike belt to stop a suspected stolen vehicle coming into town on the highway overnight.
The Ford F-150 pickup had fled from police in Lake Country, but was disabled after running over the the tire-puncturing device near the Army Camp, eventually stopping near 48th Avenue around 1 am this morning.
The truck driver fled on foot and attempted to evade police by hiding in a nearby truck, but she was located by police just minutes later.
The 37 year old woman from Crossfield Alberta was taken into custody and returned to the Lake Country RCMP where she is now facing possible charges of possession of stolen property and failing to stop for police.
