Pattison Enters Walk of Fame

One of ten new inductees into Canada’s Walk of Fame is the man behind one of the most successful broadcast groups in the country — not to mention many other lines of business.

Jim Pattison was honoured during the awards Sunday, as a Canadian who has excelled on national and international stages.

The 90 year old says he was honoured to be included in the list.

“I very much appreciate it. I learned a little bit about what those folks do and met some interesting people, so I was very pleased to be involved,” says Pattison.

Pattison has some words of wisdom when it comes to his business philosophy.

“I have a philosophy that you don’t lose when you lose. You really only lose when you quit. Determination and grit are certainly good assets to have when you are trying to take risks and do new things.”

Pattison, who was born in Saskatoon, says integrity and honesty are fundamental in his company.

“My dad taught me to be honest and tell the truth, and it’s worked well for us.”

The Jim Pattison Group is the second largest privately owned company in Canada, and includes car dealerships, Peterbilt truck dealerships, Overwaitea Foods, Save-On-Foods, Quality Foods, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, Guinness World Records and radio and TV stations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba including Beach Radio in Vernon and Kelowna, and Power 104 in Kelowna.
