Time to ‘Cram The Cruiser’

The public is being asked to help cram a police cruiser with food and other donations in Lake Country.

The 7th annual RCMP Cram the Cruiser will be held this Saturday in the parking lot of the Save On Foods from 9 am to 2pm.

“Kelowna and Lake Country Mounties, who remain fully dedicated to supporting the Lake Country Food Bank, will be out in force once again this Saturday to invite the public to cram a police cruiser full of much needed donations to help those less fortunate in our community,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Non perishable food donations will be used by the food bank for those in need.

Cash donations will also be accepted. Personal hygiene products and even special gifts like toys for children are also accepted.

Since its inception in 2012, Cram the Cruiser has raised about 11,000 pounds of donated items and just over $28,500 in cash and cheques.

“It is such a great honour to be able to host this event year after year, for the Lake Country Food Bank,” says O’Donaghey, the event’s founder. “Anyone who makes a donation to the Cram the Cruiser event is given the opportunity to enter their name into a draw for amazing prizes donated by area businesses. ”

“For a sixth year now, local fire fighters will be serving chilli at Cram the Cruiser for donations to the food bank with all the food supplies being donated by Save-On-Foods.

Mounties will in turn be supporting the Lake Country Fire Department’s door to door food drive Monday night.
