Trustees To Discuss Pay

Trustees To Discuss Pay

Nov 26, 2018 | 7:00 AM

Vernon school trustees will discuss the amount they get paid at their next meeting in December.

Board chair Robert Lee says they have to decide if they compensate for Revenue Canada removing the one-third tax exemption for civic politicians next year.

He can’t speculate if the board will take the same action as most municipal councils buy increasing their remuneration by one third.

“I honesty don’t know at this point because that’s not going to come up for discussion until its on our agenda, so it will be a board decision,” Lee tells Beach Radio News.

Lee says their general pay will also be discussed.

Trustees currently make $15,400 a year, with the chairperson getting an extra 27-hundred, for $18,149, and the vice chair $16,628.

The board policy until now has been to adjust the trustee pay each Dec. 1 by the cost of living (cohort average).
