Dealing With Cannabis and Concussions

The North Okanagan Shuswap School Board is taking a closer look at separate new policies for concussions and cannabis.

Superintendent Peter Jory says with the growing knowledge around the dangers of concussions, there is a need for a protocol to protect students in sporting events and day to day school activities.

He says with the recent legalization of cannabis, it’s recommended the district have a policy for employees on impairing substances such as marijuana, alcohol and prescription drugs.

The policies will next go to a committee for discussion.
