2018 has been a busier year for new development in Vernon.
City staff say building permit value to the end of the third quarter totalled 116 million dollars, up 29 percent over last year.
Economic development manager Kevin Poole says the increase is mainly due to several new multi-family developments.
Among the recent permits are a 52 unit modular housing project at 3500 27th Avenue (My Place), a $2.4 million renovation at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and a $1.2 million internal renovation at The Wholesale Club on 34th Street.
