Vimy Lane Celebrates 100th Anniversary
A special tribute is being held to honour Canada’s war veterans in Vernon.
The public is welcome to visit the Vimy Lane Memorial at 4008 – 29th Street, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Remembrance Day.
Two searchlights will be used to form a ‘V’ in the sky from 7 to 11 pm Friday night, and will mark the Repatriation of the Vimy Memorial using four searchlights Saturday and Sunday nights from 7 to 11 pm.
“I’m celebrating, not so much the sacrifice, which is important, but I’m celebrating how these people, these men lived. My god, they were magnificent,” organizer Andy Wylie tells Beach Radio News.
